Connecticut African-American Emancipation Committee to call for end to 'war on drugs'
NEW HAVEN — On the heels of the 41st anniversary of the so-called War on Drugs, the Connecticut African-American Emancipation Committee is holding a press conference calling for its end. The event begins at noon Friday in front of the federal courthouse, 141 Church St.
Organizers say the War on Drugs has proven to be “selective” in its enforcement, prosecution and imprisonment and has led to massive arrests in urban communities.
CAAEC has members in New Haven, Bridgeport, Hartford and Waterbury.
