Animal Haven to collect pet food

NORTH HAVEN - The Animal Haven is seeking donations of canned cat food and representatives will collect food and money donations on the Green from 6 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday night this summer during the town’s concert series.
Everyone can visit the group’s table to learn more about their work and the animals they help, according to a release.
Food and money donations also can be dropped off or mailed to The Animal Haven at 89 Mill St., North Haven, 06473.
The Animal Haven is a private no-kill shelter for Greater New Haven area residents to humanely relinquish orphaned animals for a small donation, the release said. The organization then matches homeless cats and dogs in permanent loving homes. The Animal Haven is self-supporting and receives no funds from government sources. Funds to operate the  shelter come from membership dues, private contributions, entry and adoption donations and fund raising events, the release said.

Greater New Haven Cat Project to hold fundraiser

NEW HAVEN — The Greater New Haven Cat Project will hold its 11th annual Fundraising Reception benefit from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of Remy and Sal Amadeo, 245 Bradley St.
The dinner buffet will be catered by Scarpellino’s Restaurant and Catering, with a selection of wines from Grand Vin.

Funds raised help the nonprofit, all-volunteer organization in its mission to “improving the lives of stray, abandoned and feral cats in the Greater New Haven area of Connecticut.”
Some of its programs include trap/neuter/return of feral cats, educational workshops, foster cat care and promoting responsible pet ownership.
Those who cannot attend, but want to support the GNHCP may send donations to Jane Scarpellino, 190 Wooster St., Apt. 6, New Haven, CT O6511.
