New Haven area history, in West Haven

WEST HAVEN — The Veterans Museum & Learning Center, 30 Hood Terrace, off Sawmill Road, houses collections from the 102nd Infantry Regiment and the New Haven Grays, a protective force formed after the War of 1812.
Artifacts from each conflict since the U.S. fought for independence are exhibited to allow visitors to walk a timeline around the 9,000-square-foot, camouflage-clad warehouse.
The museum’s hours are noon-4 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free; donations are accepted. For group tours, call 203-934-1111.
