Workers and other lauded for accomplishments and good deeds
NEW HAVEN — Easter Seals Goodwill Industries recently held is 39th annul meeting and awards luncheon at Anthony’s Ocean View. The guest speaker was Ron Shaw, chairman emeritus, Pilot Pen Corp. of America, whose inspirational story spoke about his early days in show business, his great success in the corporate world and the value of volunteering and giving back, organizers said. Shaw, shown above, left, with Easter Seals President H. Richard Borer Jr., is the author of "Pilot Your Life," a motivational business book.
Newly elected to the Easter Seals Goodwill Industries Board of Directors are: Kathleen Ahern, Territory Manager, Animas Corp.; Joseph Bartozzi, senior vice president and general counsel/director of Technical Services, O. F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc.; Arthur Kelly, president, The Joseph F. Kelly Co., Louis Krasenics, general manager, McDermott Auto Group; Ronald Nault, president, Luchs Consulting Engineers; Edward Norris III, vice president and chief engineer, Regional Water Authority.
Many employees, consumers, volunteers and companies were honored and presented with awards. Among them were Frank Pepe Pizzeria, Employer of the Year; General Manager Steve Adkins accepted the award. The Philanthropic Leadership Award was presented to Rich Lee of O,R&L, and Stanley Prymas of Thompson & Peck, Inc. was recognized with the Charitable Leadership Award.
Others honored were Laura Carusone, Friends in the Community Award; Logo Sportswear, Community Donor Award and DLC Management, Community Donor Award. All are generous supporters of Easter Seals Goodwill Industries. The Annual Meeting also recognized employees of the agency: Employees of the Year were Joy Cote, Beth Hermann, Damian Athan, Lisa Zielinski and Brian Walsh. Consumers of the Year were William Townsend, Elizabeth Weidlich, Peter Morse and Patrick Sheppard. Volunteer of the Year was Andrew Gambardella. The Wilfong and Gonzalez families were presented with awards for their support and involvement with the Youth as Leaders program and the Family Learning Center, respectively.
Easter Seals Goodwill Industries, 95 Hamilton St., is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to enhance employment, educational, social and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities and other challenges.
