The New Haven Public Library will celebrate World Book night "with a special two-part event with best-selling author Ann Patchett" at 6 p.m. May 29 the downtown library, 133 Elm St.
A ticketed reception with Patchett starts at 6 pm, with proceeds going to benefit the library's adult fiction collection, according to a statement.
Atticus Bookstore Café is providing refreshments for this event, and tickets are $25, available at www.nhfplfoundation.org or by calling the library at 203-946-8130 x314, the statement sais.
From 7-8 pm, Patchett will read from her latest work, "State of Wonder," and sign copies of her book. The reading is open to the public and presented free of charge.
"Patchett is the author of six novels: the bestselling 'Run; The Patron Saint of Liars,' a New York Times Notable Book of the Year; 'Taft,' winner of the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize; 'The Magician's Assistant;' 'Bel Canto,' winner of the PEN/Faulkner Award and finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; and her most recent, 'State of Wonder,'" the statement said.
She is also the author of two works of nonfiction: "Truth & Beauty" and "What Now?"
