Elm City Parks Conservancy to hold West River Water Festival

NEW HAVEN — The Elm City Parks Conservancy will sponsor the second annual West River Water Festival from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at West River Memorial Park, Ella Grasso Boulevard and Derby Avenue.

The event is free, and there is no cost to park when drivers enter from Derby Avenue.

The festival is intended to be an interactive, fun event to increase awareness, understanding and appreciation of local water resources and issues.

There will be exhibits and activity booths from many groups and organizations, including Gateway Community College, 4-H Community Rangers, the VFW "Let’s Go Fishing" program, and Act New Haven. There will be canoe rides, games, face and rock painting, live animal exhibits and an environmental, recycling puppet show for children.

Volunteers are needed to help with events. Call the parks conservancy at 203-946-2459 for more information or to volunteer.
