NEW HAVEN - The Connecticut
Energy Efficiency Fund, in partnership with United Illuminating Co. "unveiled its newly-designed ENERGY STAR® LED display at the 2012 Fantasy of Lights, as part of the Energize Connecticut initiative," according to a release.
"This energy-efficient display of lights will be
showcased for visitors" from Nov. 16, through Jan. 6, from 5
to 9 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, and 5 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and
Saturdays, the release said.
The "display is one of 21 of the displays that have
gone green with LED light bulbs, the release said. These bulbs save energy,
money and last long, while allowing the Fantasy of Lights to be "brighter and more
colorful." the release said.
“We encourage Connecticut residents to switch to LED lighting
alternatives for their home lighting displays during the upcoming holiday
season,” said Chris Ehlert, manager, Residential Conservation Programs,
UI, also in the release. “The benefit is that LEDs use 75 percent less energy as compared to
traditional light bulbs, and ENERGY STAR-certified LED holiday lights are
available at most lighting (retailers) so they’re easy to find.”
Fantasy of Lights is at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven. For more information, visit www.eastersealsgoodwill.org/fantasyoflights.
