Cuddle up for the book and a movie
An evening of holiday fun featuring special guests from the North Pole is planned for 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 18, at the Irish American Community Center, 9 Venice Place, East Haven.
Sponsored by the Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, the family event will be highlighted by a reading of the book, The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg, and a presentation of the magical Christmas movie starring Tom Hanks, organizers said.
There will be crafts, activities, door prizes, raffles, and munchies for all ages.
In the spirit of the Polar Express, guests are encouraged to dress in warm jammies and bring a blanket and pillow for viewing the movie, the statement said.
Tickets are $6 per person. Bring an unwrapped toy and receive $1 off every ticket in your party. All toys will be donated to the New Haven division of “Toys for Tots.”
