More than 500 New Haven public school students in 11 bands will march in the city’s St. Patrick’s Day parade Sunday, the district said in a release.
The students are in third to twelfth grade.
“I’m proud that our school bands will play big role in one of New Haven’s and the state’s premier events,” Superintendent of Schools Reginald Mayo said in a statement.
“Our students and staff have worked hard to prepare for the parade, and I’m sure they will make the New Haven schools proud. Their participation is a tribute to our music programs.”
Schools with bands in the parade are: James Hillhouse High School; Wilbur Cross High School; Clemente Leadership Academy; King-Robinson International Baccalaureate School. L.W. Beecher Museum School of Arts & Sciences and Ross Woodward Classical Studies School will march as one band, the statement said.
Also marching are: Augusta Lewis Troup School; Edgewood School; John S. Martinez School; Mauro-Sheridan Science, Technology and Communications School; Davis Street School and Betsy Ross Arts School, the statement said.
