Book-signing celebrates publishing of Mill River: Photographs of Joseph Gerhard

"Down by the old mill stream ..." It's a romantic notion and New Haven has its own Mill River, even if the mills are long gone.

Photographs of the river have been published in a new book, "Mill River: Photographs of Joseph Gerhard" (Manton Westwood Books). A book signing and reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Eli Whitney Museum, 915 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

You can order the book, which features 95 black-and-white photos, at millriverbook.com. Price is $60, plus $7 shipping in Connecticut.
