'Creative Writing with Sandi Shelton at New Haven Public Library'

NEW HAVEN - "Practicing and daydreaming writers are invited to a creative writing workshop with author Sandi Kahn Shelton (aka Maddie Dawson)" from 6 to 7:30 p.m.  June 10  at the New Haven Free Public Library, 133 Elm St. , according to a release.

A drawing will be held at the workshop for a copy of Shelton’s most recent novel, "The Opposite of Maybe" (written as Maddie Dawson) and copies will also be available for purchase, the release said.  A $10 fee will be collected at the door. Please register by calling the library at 203-946-8835.

Shelton, who offers regular workshops at various locations, says (also in the release) about her craft:   “Sometimes other people seem to come and set up housekeeping in my head, and … they unpack for me all their intriguing secrets and fears and fantasies, and I sit back and close my eyes and let them talk and talk and talk ... I argue with them, and they argue back, and a story starts to form, and for a while it feels as though I am that person and also me at the same time. And it’s then that I … just get to write it all down, bring it to something that’s similar to life.”  Read more about the author at www.maddiedawson.com.
